I’ve been using the Sonicare Series 3 for a year and a half. Well, i thought i could save money by sharing a single handle between my better half and myself, by swapping the brush head each time we use it respectively. Looks like that was a bad idea – it accelerated the wear and tear. Had to shop for new sonic toothbrushes. This time i went for the cheapest one that does 31000 vibrations per second, two of them this time, and it is the Sonicare 4100 ProtectiveClean.
It is currently priced at US$49.95 (S$68), which is quite pricey, but i actually got it for US$29.95. It was US$39.95 when i got it, plus there was a US$10 coupon discount. I suppose you could use CamelCamelCamel to track the price and buy it when it drops below US$40.
It is a basic model, with just an on-off switch, but that’s all i need. The Series 3 had 3 levels of intensity adjustment, but i just want it at the highest intensity anyway. There is also a “BrushSync” feature that alerts you when it’s time to change the brush head. I was initially worried that this was a measure to prevent you from using third party brush heads, but the third party brush head worked fine. And yes, the Series 3 brush heads are compatible with the 4100 ProtectiveClean handle.
It cleans extremely well. All in all, very satisfied with this purchase!
